Common baking ingredients
Here’s a compiled list of baking ingredients you’ll want around the kitchen so you can bake on a whim (and usually avoid a trip to the store).
1. Sugars/sweeteners (usually in the “wet team”)
- Brown sugar
- Granulated (white) sugar
- Powdered sugar
- Honey/agave
- Maple syrup
- Molasses
2. Flour (“dry team”)
- AP flour (all purpose)
- Cake flour
- Whole wheat flour
- Cornmeal
3. Spices (in ground/powder form unless specified otherwise — added with dry team)
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Allspice
- Cloves
- Cardamom powder
- Nutmeg
- Black pepper
- Pumpkin pie mix (2 tbsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp ginger, 2 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp cloves, 1/4 tsp salt)
